Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a component of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), which is a holistic system of health care that has been used in China for thousands of years. TCM is based on the idea that a person's health is determined by the balance of energy, or qi, in the body. Illness and pain are thought to result from imbalances or blockages in the flow of qi, and acupuncture is used to restore balance and improve health.

The exact mechanism by which acupuncture works is still not fully understood, and more research is needed to fully explain its effects. However, several theories have been proposed to explain why acupuncture may be effective in treating certain conditions.

One theory is that acupuncture stimulates the release of natural pain-relieving substances, such as endorphins, in the body, which can reduce pain and promote relaxation. Acupuncture may also stimulate the release of other chemicals in the body, such as neurotransmitters and hormones, which can have pain-relieving, anti-inflammatory, and immune-boosting effects.

How Acupuncture Works

Another theory is that acupuncture may influence the nervous system, impacting the way that pain signals are processed and reducing the perception of pain. Some studies have also suggested that acupuncture may have an effect on the immune system, helping to reduce inflammation and promote healing.

It's also believed that acupuncture works by regulating the flow of qi and blood in the body, which can have a positive impact on various organ systems and help to restore balance and improve overall health.
