Moxabustion

Moxibustion is a form of heat therapy that is used in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) as a complement to acupuncture. It involves the burning of dried mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris), also known as "moxa," near or on specific acupuncture points on the body to stimulate the flow of qi and blood and to warm and invigorate the affected area.

Gua Sha

Gua sha involves using a smooth-edged tool to gently release your fascia in different areas of your body. During the process, the gua sha tool breaks up stagnation and the presence of sha (or petechiae) signals that there’s congestion under the skin.

By definition, “gua” means scrape.

From the perspective of Traditional Chinese Medicine, many health issues can be traced back to stagnant “qi” and blood in the body. Through Gua Sha stimulation at loci (acupuncture) points, gua sha is believed to encourage a healthy flow of Qi and blood.
